Damian Priest shares his thoughts following his victory at WWE Money in the Bank.
At the premium live event on July 1, Priest won the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match and earned a title shot of his choosing. The accolade is one of WWE’s most prestigious milestones, as greats like Edge and John Cena have held the briefcase in the past.
During an appearance onWWE’s The Bump, Priest was asked about to recall how he felt in the moment when he won the match,
It was wild. I grabbed it, and I was like, ‘This just happened. This is happening. This is real.’ I did it. It’s one of those accomplishments that you wish for, you dream about. But dreams are that, they’re dreams. It’s not reality. Then when you can achieve something like this, inside, I felt like a ball of emotions. It was wild. It was just that satisfaction of achievement for something you’ve been working towards.
“I remember a few months ago when I mistakenly said Money in the Bank as the PLE instead of elimination chamber, and at that moment, I was like, I gotta win this match. I gotta be in it, I gotta win it, and it’s like I saw the future. So for me, it was a special moment for sure.
The conversation surrounding Logan Paul and LA Knight being favored to win the match also came up in the conversation. Priest made it clear that the bout was not a popularity contest, and at the end of the day, he took care of business and emerged victorious.
“Of course I heard it,” Priest said. “It’s not a popularity contest. They can make all the jokes they want on the microphone, but at the end of the day, when that bell rings, can you take a punch? Can you stand toe to toe with Damian Priest? Nobody in that ring could, and that’s why I came out on top. So let them get all the attention from social media and everything. I’ll do my business in the ring, and I’ll win the match.
